Bach & Erlebach

In this first programme of our 2024 concert season with guest soloist Lucinda Moon, Restoration performed one of Bach’s best-loved works, the violin concerto in E major, along with Bach sinfonias and music by Bach’s contemporary, Philipp Heinrich Erlebach.  Nearly all of Erlebach’s very attractive and prolific output was tragically destroyed in a fire soon after his death – this is the only reason his music is almost unknown today.  One of the few works that survived was a set of Overture-suites that had been published in 1693 and performed to wide acclaim – Restoration played one of these superbly varied suites of French-style dances from the courts of Germany.
